A Gatsby Gala

Events production

For this project I was on brand design, marketing and event night photographer.

There were four final designs in total, a logo for our events company Girls On The Run, and then a poster, logo and invitation for our event, The Gatsby Gala.

My thought process behind all of the designs was that we needed neutral colours to appeal to our target audience, which was primarily students. This mixed with the Gatsby theme, and I decided on black, white and gold. Admittedly, I probably spent way too long creating geometric patterns on photoshop, (for the background) but because I had been trusted by the group with such a big part of the project, I wanted to make sure I didn't let them down. I know it's not up to the standard of what a professional could do, however I think the designs did successfully represent our company, and the event we were trying to promote.

Once the designs were complete, we posted them online as well as distributed them across the university as we felt this was the best way to attract the attention of our potential Gatsby guests.

In regards to the night itself, we sold all our tickets, made over £700 on the bar (which paid of costs for venue hire with £400 to spare), raised almost £200 for our chosen charity Birmingham Children's Hospital from just a raffle alone, and generally just received really really positive feedback from guests.

For my 2nd year Events Production module I worked within a team to create a night of glitz, glamour, cocktails and dancing.

Birmingham is full of clubs, pubs and bars and so together as a team, we wanted to create a night for people that was different to the others, and enabled people to dress up and feel special, whilst also raising money for charity.

It is with this in mind that our Gatsby Gala was created.

It was held at the Cosy Club which is a gorgeous bar with high ceilings, patterned wallpaper, delicious cocktails and a very grand exterior.
